Effortless 2-ingredient Red Currant Jam means you have basically no excuse to make this small batch recipe. If you have a red currant bush in your garden at home or bought a nice little amount and wish to make some jam out of it, it is simple.

July calls for this cute berries with vibrant colours. This recipe yields for 2 jars as I used a whole harvest to make it. However, feel free to double up the recipe.

Honestly the longest might have been picking them, which honestly is still fun actually. You just need some patience or little hands to help you. But being this easy to make red currant jam is well worth it.

How To Make Red Currant Jam?

The answer is: with only 2 ingredients! Sugar and currants. This might be your winning combo for your effortless red currant jam!

It will be a small batch, just the perfect amount to a bunch of nice toast on weekends, the perfect treat!

Fruit picking: I made it a family affair and got the kids to help. After all, they actually are the ones consuming most of the jam in the house.
In Spring, they got so excited seeing the bush get its first leaves and see the red currants going from white to bright red. Since their young age, I get them to involve in small gardening activities such as the one with did for Food Revolution Day. But it is also my French influence, I talked about it here and explain how important it is to have your kids involved.

Clean them: Next, wash them and remove any small branches and leaves.

Cooking: In a large pot, pour your red currants and granulated sugar. Stir well to coat all the fruits with sugar.

Storing in jars: I like that it is a small batch because it skips the steps of sterilizing. Just 2 jars that can be stored in the fridge. You know, it makes your life easier!

If you have some smaller jars, it could also make a perfect hostess gift. We are or should I say the kids are great jam eaters, they love to spread some goodness, especially if it's homemade on their toast. The 2-ingredient Red Currant Jam is no exception!

    Recipes With Red Currants

Besides this jam or jelly-like some call it, you can use your red currants in sweet and savoury recipes.

Consider making this almond and red currant mini pies recipe! The tartness of the fruits with the sweetness of the almond is just an explosion for your taste buds!

Also, I listed 6 amazing red currant recipes on a post where you can find a yogurt cake, a tort, a chicken recipe, or even a delicious mohito and all using these delicious berries.
