📖 Substitutions And Variations
CARROTS: One of the most obvious substitutions is carrots for baby carrots. Absolutely, take that shortcut. However, keep in mind that the thickness of the carrot will determine if you need to air fry it a little longer.
SPICES:
- for something spicier: add or substitute the paprika for chili or chipotle powder.
- for something sweeter: add some brown sugar when tossing the carrots with the spices. Another option if you want, add a tablespoon of maple syrup to the raw veggies. Once air fried, it will have a little caramelized taste.
DIP: This chipotle mayonnaise is the perfect dip as it balances with the sweetness of the carrots. But, this is just a suggestion, if you are into double-dipping in ketchup or garlicky aioli, go for it! The sky is the limit, my friend.

💭 FAQ For The Recipe
Ah! Two things you need to do to make sure to get a little crunch (it will not be like regular potato fries):
Pat dry your carrots prior to adding the spices. It is optional as it is not as high in water content as a zucchini would be.
Make 2 batches: ideally, you don't want to have too many carrots on top of each other. It promotes moisture when piled on each other.
Absolutely, you can make roasted carrots instead of air fryer carrots if you do not own the equipment but like the recipe! I would say, follow my roasted potato and carrot recipe for the cooking time.
You don't need to add oil to the air fryer itself but if you want a little crisp, you should toss your carrots in oil.
This side dish is more delicious if cooked and enjoyed on the day of. However, If you have some leftovers, you can store them in a container and reheat them in the oven for a few minutes.
