Homemade French chocolate truffles are a decadence to indulge over and over. Made with rich dark chocolate, they are creamy and not too sweet, rolled in bitter dark chocolate. This recipe for homemade chocolate truffles is simple and foolproof. It is a great baking activity with the kids during the Christmas season.

Chocolate truffles make a great edible gift for a hostess, potluck or a nice addition to a dessert table. Easy to make, you can make it ahead and store it in the fridge for a couple of weeks. Although, I never had any leftovers after a few days!

Homemade Edible Gifts Are the Best

Anything homemade is the best gift in my opinion. Certainly, there is something about someone spending time to make you something - edible or not - even a card with kind words can be the most appreciated gift.

If you wish to bake something to offer, you can bake this delicious Vanillekipferl, an almond shortbread, the French mendiants or almond tuiles. This holiday season, I baked sugar cookies for neighbours, my colleagues, and some more and I used a great recipe from Cooking with Karli. I loved her recipe (and made 5 batches) because it does not require any chilling of the dough before baking it.

    Homemade Truffles Are Foolproof

I have been making these for years and there are really simple. If you don't mind messy and chocolatey fingers, kids can do it too.

With only 4 rich ingredients, it's quick to put together, and while you do something else you can let it cool in the fridge. Another reason to make homemade truffles is that you don't need any special equipment. Above all, you'll be using just simple things you have in your kitchen: a bowl, spoons, plates. Don't you love that when a recipe does not have fancy utensil needs - that you don't have and don't want to buy for one recipe.
